The last time I went out west I wasn’t feeling myself

I had my first real panic attack

Over going on a hike

Haven’t had one since, I think

The last time I went south things went well

I still don’t like the beach

But the warmth is comforting

And I like the way palm trees hold themselves

The last time I went up north was just a few days ago

Grandparents’ neighborhood always looks the same

Some discoloration of the siding

The tree out front used to watch our football games

Hard to think of next time

The last time I went east I saw the city

I felt at home

I like to smile at people though

Streets are too busy for it there

Midwestern through and through
